San Mateo's muni course. This course is value in my eyes. Its not very long and the course isn't very difficult but it is fun. A very walkable course and from the folks at the proshop to the restaurant to the shack at the turn, they're all very nice and seem to enjoy their job.
The range isn't anything special, just a area with some big netting but it does at least get deep. the mats are in ok shape and they're in trays so putting in your tee is different as opposed to just a range with mats on the ground.
Playing in the afternoons after work for $32 is fantastic value for 18 holes. If you start after 3, it does get tight finishing the whole course. All par 3's are bottle necks and the 3rd and 7th are no different as its likely you'll be waiting 10 mins to tee off (usually when I walk to the shack and grab a snack).
The course is in pretty good condition, the fairways are well kept (there are a few spots where the water doesn't drain as well but at least I'm not losing my golf balls), the greens are fair (the 3rd does have some excessive pitch marks in a few spots) and the bunkers are a bit compacted so scoop shots are my go to out of them but again, I mention value. About half the price compared to other courses so I have no problem just enjoying what I'm paying for.
The only thing I'd love for this course is some expedited play, some days, it is indeed a 5+ hour round to get through 18 and its a serious drag since I've played in the morning and get through in as little as 3.5 hrs.
