If you want to know about how Poulsbo came to be as a town and it’s rich history you must visit The Maritime Museum and Visitor Center. It is located right in the historic downtown Poulsbo and conveniently located next to the Heritage Museum. These two museums complement each other as far as history goes in Poulsbo. It is in this museum that I found that Poulsbo was truly supposed to be Paulsbo, being that the name Paul was misspelled or misread according to historical documents and papers of which I have a photo of. All of their volunteers are so eager to show you what they have for you to learn the history and they are all so knowledgeable and helpful in sharing the history to everyone that goes there. It is free to get in but donations are always appreciated. If you are ever in Poulsbo and curious about its history and why most locals look like Scandinavians ( Norwegians seem to be popular) and why the infrastructure like buildings and houses resemble that of Scandinavian, then this museum is a place for you to learn by seeing all their artifacts and history in record.
