I began my journey with self care back in 2011 right after I had to take three rounds of antibiotics to fight off a really bad sinus infection (exascerbated by really letting my body down-bad diet, no sleep, no exercise); I had gone into a couple of consultations for orthopedic surgery for both feet due to chronic pain... sI met Leo when he was at a chiropractic/acupuncture/physical therapy pratice. During my assessment, I told the doctor that m measure for good health was to be able to go running for at least a half hour. About a year into treatment, I ran my first ten-miler (2012) with orthotics, once weekly chiropractic/accupuncture, and once monthly massage. By a year and a half (2013), I ran my first half marathon. All non-surgical intervention!
I went through my 12 Structural Integration sessions with Leo in the summer/fall of 2014. Halfway through my sessions, Leo suggested that I try running with lower profile shoes and without my orthotics... I was skeptical (I mean, I only just proved to myself I didn’t have to have surgery to run). But I tried a short run, then another, and another. By the end of my sessions I was also free of my orthotics!
I think the best part of working with Leo is that he gives you the techniques to self-treat (specific exercises and stretches) recurring issues. He helps coach you on listening to your body and identifying root causes on issues (bad seated posture, recurring leaning or turning). He leverages his experience with alternate practices (Yamuna ball) to help you practice self care.
I’ve been on a once-monthly maintenance schedule with other structural integration/anatomy trains practitioners and they are very surprised with how I am able to participate in my diagnosis. I can’t thank Leo enough and while I’ve found some great practitioners in Dallas, I definitely miss our sessions!
Without Question, Leo is the BEST therapist! You notice I didn’t say massage therapist, because he does so much more than that.
He is professional, charismatic and truly cares for his clients. If you are lucky to get on his schedule, he will help you achieve increased wellness on multiple levels. I have been seeing him since 2013 and his care has made a profound impact on my physical and mental health. I just retired from the US Navy after 24 years and his efforts have helped me minimize the impact of the wear and tear my body received during those years.
Do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment today...don’t even think about going to massage envy!!!
