My son and I come here frequently and love it. It CAN be a little on the warm side in summer and the winters can be a little crazy too. Favorite time is when the storms are coming through. Last time we were there there was a storm in the distance and we watched the lightening touching off on the hills, while the wind ripped and pulled at us and our tent (tents CAN stand a tremendous amount of wind if anchored properly.
The nights are the best, though. Stars forever.
The campground is laid out and organized well. The staff that patrols has always been attentive and helpful. They even gave me a jumpstart one time. And the visitors center staff has always been great. Restrooms are clean, though the vault style can be a little smelly in summer, but that is just the nature of the beast.
This is a must for the desert camper.
