A short note indicating our dealings with Rick and Jodie Pena. 1/30/22 Background:
My 98 year old mother went into assisted living in June of 2020. Her townhome would have to be sold in order to cover the expenses. Her brother lived with her at the time of her death and did not want to leave the townhome. We were tasked with finding our recalcitrant uncle a new place to live.
We contacted several people in the Camarillo area in an attempt to find a reputable real estate agent. We were told (by several) that Rick Pena was the best man for the job. We contacted him, and within hours, he put together a game plan. Our biggest hurdle was that we are in our 70's and living 450 miles away.
Boy oh boy, did Rick Pena come through! An inspection of the property indicated that there were several fix-its that had to be remedied prior to selling. This included general clean up, interior painting, electrical work and plumbing, along with roof repair. All, while my mom's brother was still on the premises.
Because we lived so far away, Rick was able to find a "handyman" to handle much of the needed work. Rick arranged for an electrician, painter, roofer and maintenance man to complete all the work. Rick even went the extra mile in helping us find a place where my 83 year old uncle could move to.
Rick Pena did a complete evaluation of the property and listed it once all the "fix-its" were done. Rick kept us apprised of all "showings" and what potential buyers were saying: positive and negative.
All I can say, now that this ordeal is over, is just how in awe my wife and I are with the professionalism and the thoroughness that we experienced with Rick and his wife Jodie. And, the huge extra mile they went to assist us in a smoother sale of the property than we ever expected. All of this was done over the phone. That included all explaining and signing of necessary paperwork, walked through by Jodie Pena. If we would have had to be there to oversee the work, we would have had to rent a place or stay somewhere in our RV. Rick saved us thousands by taking on this project. So, a big thank you to Rick and Jodie Pena.
We have bought and sold 15 properties over the past 40 years, but have never encountered a real estate agent that took on all the responsibilities this man did for us. We will always be grateful, not only to Rick Pena, but to the people who recommended him to us.
