I currently see Martha Barnhouse. She is well-read on nutrition and eating disorders and explains basic concepts behind my care patiently and thoroughly. Martha is also deeply understanding of how emotional these issues can be, and I have always felt like I can have a very open dialog with her about this. Overall, I have felt very supported by her during the course of my care.

I have been going to Rooted Nutrition Counseling for a month now and already am seeing a huge shift in my thought process around food and with my body image. For the first time, I do not feel alone in this struggle. I would tell past providers that I felt like when I described how I was feeling or my thought process, it made me feel like they would read from a script and I was left there screaming on the inside for someone to listen. With Martha, I feel like I am truly being listened to and when I say something she takes the time to break it down so we both understand more of what I am saying. This still is super hard for me, I struggle talking about my disorder, my body image and the thoughts I have around food. But it does feel like I am where I need to be and where I can get the most out of recovery. Excited for the future working with Rooted Nutrition Counseling!
