BEWARE OF THIS SAFEWAY at 9pm on 8/22/24 my boyfriend and i were BEAR MACED IN THE FACE by this security guard as we were shopping. this idiot attempted to bear mace someone who was leaving the store - macing everyone in the vicinity as a result. he clearly saw my boyfriend and i plus three other people shopping and used the mace anyway. no apologies, no nothing. management refused to give us his name.
Extremely disappointed! Horrible Safeway!
My partner and rushed down there because we realized we are missing eggs to make our dinner. My partner and I both get off work fairly late, so we came to this Safeway because they're open until 12am. We get there at 11:45pm and the security guard is blocking the door with a cart to the extent of not even allowing customers to leave. We expressed to the security guard that we just need to grab eggs, and there is still 15 minutes before the store is closed. The security guard wouldn't even look us in the eyes. He was extremely rude and not compassionate. We were so offended that we asked for the store managers name and he refused to give us the store managers name. What is the point of having set business hours if you're not going to honor them? I've worked in customer service for over 15 years now, and never at any of my jobs have we turned away paying customers 15 minutes before we close! That's just outrageous! If you are not going to let people in to shop until 12am, then adjust your hours or have some sort of notation stating that even though it says we are open until 12am you will not be allowed to enter if you arrive at 11:45pm, because this is a gross misrepresentation of your stores business hours.
