Let me start by saying there was a line that took 30 minutes to get through, only one person behind the counter. Once we get our food we were shorted one egg roll, they were stale and not edible. Stuff behind the deli counter taking money and not washing their hands afterwards. This was a store that I gave five stars not too long ago. Before the pandemic. One good thing was all the staff were wearing masks, that was good to see. Other than that I probably will not go to Safeway to get any deli food, anytime in the future. Besides the long wait, overcharging and the cross-contamination, I might have given 2 stars, but this place was an absolute mess, horrible service.

Yesterday I bought groceries. The cashier sneezed without covering his nose. When I came back home in the evening I had a sharp sore throat and a fever. There was a strong chill. I would really like people to cover their noses when they sneeze. I am sure that I was not the only one in this line who got sick.🫤

I am a medical professional with an agency out of Vancouver and I frequently assist clients with grocery shopping. On more than one occasion, a man by the name of Robin, who is clearly disgruntled, has actively tried to ruin groceries while checking people out. I will be placing all client orders through Fred Meyer in the future because it is worth the drive for lower prices and the higher quality of EVERYTHING else. Shame on this store for knowing this man is a problem and not resolving the issue - especially considering the tourist prices this Safeway charges.
