Tukwila Safeway has been going down hill for years! I’ve lived in same home and been shopping here for nearly 50 years. The current manager, being “in charge” provides the worst customer service I have ever seen! During my latest visit, early Sat morning (day before Father’s Day) store packed, and ONE (1) cashier. With 3 customers ahead of me and that poor cashier obviously stressed as she was working as fast as she could, I stepped up a bit and asked “can you please call for a second cashier”. She said “there is no one else”. When it was my turn, I chatted with her a bit to find out what the heck was going on. This entire time, another employee (April) stood in the isle, talking and laughing with another coworker. I also asked her if someone could come help out..so quick to apologize (I’m sorry but “no” no one else….She stepped up and said to my cashier “named the person, will be here at 1030am. I believe that was about 40 min away! My wonderful cashier who by the way, is so hard working and kind every time she rings me up, said there was no relief for her to run to the restroom. How can this be? Disgusting !
I will tell you how!!! Before my groceries were all rung up, the manager was was suddenly standing at the back of the register next to us, looking at his cell phone. As I openly expressed my annoyance as all customer eyes and ears were listening, that “Customer service sucks here” He actually kept looking at his phone and started smiling!! I said “stop smiling, this is not funny and it’s your job to make sure “your customers are taken care of. I even said “your cashier can’t even run to the restroom “ This great manager asked “why, is something wrong with the restroom “.WELL, There ya go!! Clueless and could care less about anyone! No wonder there is such a high turn over in cashiers! I’d leave too if I had to work for this manager.
