I’m rarely in this area and this store really stands out, but not in any good way. This time I went, and the 3 cashiers are so awfully chatty and nice to each other, so they can be nice. But to the customers they are so rude and unfriendly. I was watching my cashier be so glum to all the customers so I knew when it was my turn what I was going to get. Not a word, nor telling me what my total was, which is like, the most basic part of the job. I tried a friendly Thank You, but I knew I was only going to get an unfriendly scowl in response. No offer for a receipt. Nothing. Those pesky customers. Wouldn’t your job be so much better if you didn’t have to deal with any? As I was leaving, they all excitedly started talking in their own language. They are here to gossip but I don’t think they like the job at all. It’s really best to avoid this place and hopefully they will go out of business soon

Take the time and visit a different grocery store. The staff are overworked and over-attitude, the prices are just ridiculous, and overall it’s just unsafe with a gross parking lot and security chasing people out for stealing. I live across the street yet purposely ride the One Line to Trader Joe’s in U District for a much more pleasant experience.

Yes, the checkout lines can be slow. Yes, the parking lot and store can be dirty at times. Yes, it can get a bit sketchy. Yes, there are other stores that I could go to that are much better. Despite all of this, this Safeway has most of what I need and is right across the street from my work, so it still gets my business from time to time. If you can, go to a different store or a different Safeway all together.
