Sad to have to leave this review, but I can confidently say I will never step foot into a Safeway again after how I was treated today. I’m sitting in the parking lot writing this review at 1:40 PM. whichever lady you had working at self check out has the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. This is the Safeway that I do all of my grocery shopping at, however today while checking out at the self check as I always do I noticed the lady working self check out looking at me and staring at the items in my cart.
After scanning a few items, she said ‘excuse me, ma’am I just wanted to let you know that you have too many items to be in the self check area’. She proceeded to point to a sign that said 15 items or less. I looked around the store. I was the only one in self check out and there were three people in line for the only person open to check me out. I looked in my cart and counted my items. I had a total of 18 items….I very much assume that this woman was on a trip because she proceeded to tell me that she was going ‘to be nice and LET me continue checking out even though I wasn’t supposed to be there’. Yeah, she’s right. I’m not supposed to be there. I’m not supposed to be in a Safeway. I’m not supposed to be somewhere that treats me like garbage with zero customer service skills.
I understand wanting to keep self checkout open for people to make quick purchases and leave. But my 18 items were not an issue. There was no one else in the Self check out area, but there was a line for the only person that was checking out customers. Since Covid, I try my best to avoid any unnecessary people touching my items So I go through self check out Even though it’s a bit of an inconvenience for me to be doing your job.
