Great for athletes! Changed the way I think about chiropractic medicine! I'm typically a skeptic, I've been promised a lot of good things by chiropractors: "this will fix your headaches," "you'll sleep better," "clears your sinuses," and it almost never panned out. In early Aug '14, I began to have intense back pain--so bad I initially thought it was a kidney stone (it wasn't). I'm a healthy, 36-yo marathon runner who hadn't done any odd lifting or twisting. After two days of not being able to walk, I visited Dr. Harper on a recommendation from a family member. The online scheduling system is awesome and easy to use. When I got there, there was no wait and minimal forms to fill out. As I was describing the issue, Dr. Harper was very attentive, and listened to every word, which couldn't have been an easy feat, because in an effort to give the best description, I was really long-winded.
His communication was very clear, often using a model of the spine to give visual aid to his words. I also learn that he has completed post-graduate work which I believe helped greatly in my treatment.
He's calm and confident in his manner, which helps keep the patient relaxed during adjustments. I also felt strongly that he believes in the tried-and-true, and is not unduly enamored with the latest fads which all too often turn out to be snake oil. He didn't try to sell me on any new-age treatment or gimmick, and even referred me to a retail store for a temporary back brace, because, and this is a direct quote, "they're good braces and they sell them cheaper than I could get them for."
How's that for honest and down-to-earth? Pretty awesome, I'd say.
