Our male cat was spraying in the house and my husband was getting scared we might have to give him and his sister up (they are a bonded pair). We called the SF SPCA and spoke with the receptionist Diego. He listened to me and acknowledged how scared I was. He checked in with staff and was able to squeeze us in since he felt the situation was dire and he sensed the urgency in my voice. We were accommodated for a Wednesday and when we arrived, my husband and I were treated with kindness, empathy and respect. Our vet talked with us and addressed our fears and concerns. She talked to us about additional resources to provide our cats with since we also had a 14-year-old German Shepherd and that might also be the cause of tension. Our male cat stopped spraying following the neuter and his behavior has shifted for the better! The staff sent us home with pain medicine for both cats, two cones and then a FAQ sheet with an emergency number in the event something happened. Our cats nails were trimmed as well and we got a follow up call to see how they were doing. I am so grateful to the SF SPCA and the staff there for their respect, kindness and their attentiveness. Our cats are doing so well and we didn’t experience any complications after the surgery. Our cats had a great recovery.
