Whether you’ll like SAM or not, really depends on what you like. I’m a fan of European and Italian art. I was excited to find some of the works of Rembrandt - woo!! Other than that, 75% of the museum was modern, abstract, and historical art (old Japanese and more), I might not even know all the details because I wasn’t very interested. So, fully depends on your preferences.
I bought my tickets online in advance. Went on Saturday. There are many kiosks and in-person ticket purchase windows. So, if you cannot buy your ticket online, then don’t sweat it.
I was here in February during the museum month. It wasn't too crowded. I really enjoyed the exhibits. There is a nice balance of historic, native, as well as modern artwork. A little bit of everything! Museum is not too big, but also not too small, it's easy to spend about 2 hours here.
