Taking lessons at Seattle Jazz Academy has been such an enriching experience! I have been playing the piano for over twenty years and performing/writing music for over ten, however for a long time I lacked formal training in jazz piano. Taking up lessons again at SJA has strengthened my understanding of jazz & blues, confidence in improvising, and overall skills on the piano. I can communicate my musical ideas to others more clearly, get more creative with chord voicings and compositional choices, and learn how to play tunes and standards much faster now. I look forward to my lesson every week and feel motivated to continue learning :)

I would highly recommend Seattle Jazz Academy to anyone who is interested in learning an instrument or building upon their existing musical skills with a focus in jazz and blues. It's exciting and inspiring to be part of such a supportive community of passionate students and musicians at SJA, and I look forward to participating in the other programs and opportunities the school has to offer!
