Seattle Studios is my favorite new studio space in the greater Seattle area, with a killer spot in Fremont near American Music and Daybreak Records. Feels super creative when you walk past the bins of vinyl and open garage doors of the neighboring record shop into the studio and are greeted in the lobby by a cool little cafe with an espresso machine, swag, and even hard drives for sale (you know, in case the client forgot to bring one, which obviously never happens). There are indie movie posters on the walls, cool vintage cameras on display, and painted signs to point you to the two stages, prep bays, loading area, loft / green room / kitchenette, and loading bay.
This place was obviously designed by film people, for film people, and it shows. It has a super creative vibe with spaces that are purpose built for their use. Nice little directors bay at the edge of studio A with USB plugins for phones and tablets, iPad driven light arrays on the cyc wall that don't need a gaffer to operate, a cool little director's office for private conversations or quiet space. Favorite space though is the loft upstairs which overlooks studio A. It's a really vibey space with several TVs that are plugged into a wireless switcher so you can get a monitor feed upstairs. Hair and makeup areas have their own lighted mirrors. Kitchenette with a cool vintage-looking fridge. USB plugins for charging are throughout, as are little tables and chairs, for lots of spaced out seating for cast and crew.
The owner Domenic is pretty rad, he's been around the film community in Seattle for years as a director of photography and owner of a boutique camera rental house which has grown considerably, so you can pick up nearly anything you might need for production in-house, including cameras, lenses, and G&E. Prices are reasonable, people are friendly and flexible, I can't say enough good about this spot, highly recommend!
