For the first time in my working career, I experienced an injury on the job. I was first assessed by the District Manager Anne who thought I would need at least 12 weeks of therapy. She warned me of "frozen shoulder" from non-use and an aesthetician/hairdresser friend recently told me she had that and it was so painful. I've only purchased one band that I work with for my homework sessions.
I then began working with Kathryn Bildhauer whom I greatly appreciate. She's very personable, punctual and clearly explained progressive exercises as well as homework. She also listens when there's an exercise I don't particularly like. She even shared playing her playlist during our last session.
(Having a B.S. in Physical Education from the University of Colorado, Boulder, a Personal Training Certificate from DeAnza College, Cupertino, and having been a personal and Apex trainer for 24HourFitness, Morgan Hill, as well as having competed in bodybuilding competitions, I truly appreciate someone knowledgeable to get my shoulder back to where it should be.)
Kathryn was on ski patrol, surfs, plays soccer and is an amazing athlete. Knowing body mechanics and progressions to move from restoring shoulder mobility and now the second phase of regaining strength, I feel totally comfortable and trust in her guidance along the path of recovery and restoration.
Do expect to do work during the therapy sessions and homework and follow the prescribed exercises, whether by print or an app.
Stephanie always calls me on Friday to remind me of my Monday morning appointments and a text during the weekend. They are normally booked out at least 3 weeks in advance, so have patience if you need to get physical therapy.
Jacob and Myra have also taken me through exercises and have been extremely helpful.
Select Physical Therapy is very, very good and has a variety of different types of exercises using a variety of equipment to keep the sessions interesting yet challenging.
I just completed my 6th session and will be reevaluated by Shane, a "local boy" from Hawaii P.T. before I progress to the next 6 sessions.
I am looking forward to getting back to my original strength and mobility of my shoulder and getting back to my normal exercises.
Having family members with dementia and ALS, being an advocate for them for 5 years before their passing, health is truly the most important thing we can pursue and retain.
I highly recommend Select Physical Therapy and suggest that if you have an injury and you're not physically where you think you should or want to be, consider making an appointment with them to fully enjoy your body mechanics- pending your doctor's recommendation and/or self-management.

I suffered with shoulder pain. My orthopedic doctor highly recommended this place redwood city to visit, although this was not near to me I decided to go for it.
My experience starts from the front desk first, so I was looking for few appointments sooner but they don’t have slots available until 2 weeks later. Linda was very kind and she facilitated me some early morning possible slots knowing my situation and My first impression here was the best unlike other centers.
And My initial consultation was with Kelly, she is attentive and am impressed with her keen evaluation of neck to find out the root cause of pain. I have been to few other therapists few years ago but with Kelly I got this feeling “I’m healing soon”. Some sessions when required there was gentle massage of affected area followed by evaluation and exercises.
For few sessions I met Shane. He is knowledgeable, energetic and helped me with shoulder evaluation and isometric exercise program for shoulder strengthening. On my last session, he listened intently about EDS issues, accessed my needs with utmost patience and found out exact pain points and gave me workout plan accordingly with lot of different exercise trials.
Catherine is compassionate and proactive. she listens patiently and helped me in revising exercises in every visit, was guiding, correcting and making sure I got it right. On request she helped me record myself for few exercises as well. I was badly waiting for fewer slots sooner and I conveyed her to update me if anything opens up, She did call me when ever there was a cancellation.
Finally I met Jarrod, TMJ Specialist who came all the way from Belmont location to Redwood city to help me evaluate on TMJ, it was so kind of him. As per the rule in Select PT, their rule says one person can take sessions in one location at a time. I really really appreciate Jarrod for taking time to come to this location and many thanks to Kelly for requesting Jarrod on behalf of me, explaining my situation and make this happen.
All Respective trainers would email all the home exercises after every visit.
