God bless the few beautiful people that take care of so many EVERY DAY. The world would be such a sad place w/o people like these. God bless them and every beautiful soul that uses their services. Im telling you its a very sad thing for an individual to wind up in a situation that has to use these services;&only a pay check away from it for many more. In a country so rich, it is to be a hard thing to deal with. And then to have the world look down on them to boot only because they cant imagine themselves there. It is easier than one could fathom. I have been gracefully broken by the beautiful horror of this in my time. I am actually greatful for the lessons ive taken from it. Thank You Father in heaven.

Make sure the food is hot. I caught food poisoning again a few days ago.

I have come to love & to treasure thiis meal resource, Shalom Ministries, above all others (only City Gate do I think as highly of) because, from their Executive Director to their Dishwasher:

• they care tremendously for & about those of us that are low-income &/or homeless—first time & long time visitors alike—and they've never once failed to show their love & respect for us all in the five years since I started utilizing this vital food (+ more) resource...

• they treat us all, each & every one, with dignity, with respect, with compassion... I leave there feeling valued, feeling Human!..

• they post, quite visibly for all to see (patrons, staff, & volunteers) the Core Values & Mission Statement that are the guiding & defining principles of what Shalom Ministries is to be for the world; additionally, their actions do match their words, they are who they say they are... 😃

• they are consistent; they are reliable; they have created & maintain a safe space for us to be in;can be counted upon to be open & to be smiling when they say that they will...

• they serve a remarkably large number of people with remarkably quick service at 4 breakfast meals + 2 dinner meals every week...

• the food is always delicious, abundant, & hot; as is the coffee ~ I always depart plentifully well fed & refreshed...

Just by being there for each and every individual in our community, & by always being the ministry for those of us in need that they have pledged to be:

• forever smiling ~never judging~ always welcoming •

they have & will undoubtedly continue to uplift countless numbers of lives for the better. And just because they have treated us with dignity, they provide us with what I believe might happen to be the vital component that quietly allows us to feel that while there we have a safe place to be & to find perhaps some inner strength to rediscover a less negative, more positive self-image, thus a tool for making steps towards repairing, improving, regaining our lives.
