You have good days and bad days with Shasta regional Hospital. Last night it appeared to be a bad day for the entire staff, the doctor and myself it was the worst care that I could imagine from an ER visit with a person of chest pain, dizziness, high blood pressure, unable to get it under control. The ambulance crew offered to start an IV but I live on a very bumpy road. It was not safe to start an IV at the hospital. The staff worked quickly but not with smiles or concerns. The only person that showed any type of compassion was the x-ray technician.. finally went all was said and done. The doctor came in asked me briefly what seem to be the issue while others were asking questions and doing work at the same time he in the student doctor walked out, was only in less than a minute I never seen him again until about 40 minutes later when a nurse walked in or someone walked in and asked me to sign discharge papers. I was fine to go home, I asked why the doctor was not coming in she said well he said you’re fine he wouldn’t send you home if he didn’t feel you were OK I requested the labs, the chest x-ray she never returned finally another nurse, who seemed more like a an army sergeant said they can’t give those to me I requested the doctor again. Finally the doctor came in and pocket and looked at me and said you’re fine pretty much into conversation except I did ask in confusion please can I have my lab results and chest x-ray because I can give you your lab results I walked out of there, still with my blood pressure going up as I’m in a standing position dizzy hanging onto the walls to exit the hospital horrendous horrendous care last night. I had to review the lab results myself to find out I was severely dehydrated. They offered me an IV to bring everything back to normal. All they did was discharge me, so yeah my experience Shasta regional is not favorable today. ! Not the physician I should not have to read the test results myself and to determine what is causing my high blood pressure my chest pain, my dizziness, my blood vision no I’m not diabetic I was just severely dehydrated. My electrolyte balance was off, unknown to me.

Went to have Labs drawn as my last 4 appointments with Lab Corp had been cancelled (closures, staffing, excuses).
Had to wait appx 30 minutes to register but, apparently someone put me in the wrong line. But, I got my labs done, finally. Said that we could always come there for that. Enjoyed the young lady that registered me and the phlebotomist. Very 🙂 nice ladies!!

I have always made the decision to only use Shasta Regional Medical Center as my Hospital. It's been a long time since I've been there but I had to go there for surgery and it was outpatient today and I cannot say enough about the staff. My nurse, Eugene, one of the smartest, most caring nurses I've had the pleasure of being mine for the day. The women who took care of me right before surgery were so caring, and it was genuine. And that's what really matters. The surgeon, smart, informative, told me everything about what he was about to do and could not have been more compassionate. Right down to the woman who admitted me. She was caring, professional, thorough. Like I said, I won't go anywhere else! Thank you so much! When you feel like you matter, you do.
