I recently bought a few things online from Shibui. The website pictures are thorough and clear. I was very satisfied with my purchases. One is a very large bronze vase that came boxed in a traditional wooden box. The box was damaged in shipping. Mr. Owen was very conscientious and thoughtful when working out the best way to resolve the problem. I recommend Shibui without reservation and would happily do business with them again.

I feel incredibly fortunate— and grateful — for having a stunning piece of Japanese history, once holding a ship captain’s goods, and now my treasures.

I have been impressed with SHIBUI since I first found it in Santa Fe many years ago. The owner, Dane, has incredible knowledge of Japanese history and art, has a keen eye for unique and quality pieces, and an extensive collection of beautiful items. The Kura Door Spa in Salt Lake City---which is a lovely oasis--- is furnished with beautiful Ranma transoms, Japanese screens, and other art pieces from SHIBUI. In the past year, I rediscovered SHIBUI in its current location in Long Beach, CA. I have purchased two beautiful Tansu chests and several other items (fabric, ceramics) which were shipped and arrived in perfect condition. Recently, my husband and I had the chance to visit the shop in CA and meet Dane in person. It was a highlight of our trip. He has a gorgeous and extensive collection---it was like visiting a museum with your own personal guide. If you are looking for high quality Japanese antiques that are beautifully curated, lovingly selected and restored, and priced very fairly---look no further than SHIBUI. Thank you Dane for the beautiful additions to our home and for teaching us so much about Japanese art, history, and culture. Mary and David
