Picked up some snacks and can beverages in mid morning for my back from vacation vendors. It was down pouring outside, as a matter had intermittent rain for days. I’d like to keep the packaging dry and neat, and asked if they had those free, lesser quality white bags instead of paying for bags with logos . This mid aged staff member with black uniform and long hair responded with indifference and a long face. She pointed outside the rain already stopped, it’s okay to carry to my car without bag. Obviously she didn’t care how far I parked my car here, even might rain anytime, and if going to rain later, how I kept the packages dry from my car to the office, her attitude was blatantly patronizing and condescending. Understand, she might be under after holiday blue or had a long day already although only mid morning. At the end I bought one bag and tear a few of those flimsy bags from the produce department and got the heck out of there, enough with her antics!
There is something fundamentally off and odd about this Smart & Final store on Fair oaks in Pasadena, not only is product quality below par but the fact they always run out of the items. What make it even worse, is the awfully negative vibe in this store at large, a very unpleasant, if not toxic shopping experience. Compare to Trader’s J, Vons, Ralph or even other S&F.
I can only attribute the to two main points: The lack of business savvy on the store manager part or the ineptitude of the regional or head “idiots” in charge. In either case, this particular store or the entire S&F infrastructure needs some serious restructure and managerial overhauling. For S& F higher up are not giving the shareholders bang for their bucks.
