This is the most unprofessional set of people I've ever encountered. I applied for a social security number immediately after moving from a different country, had an in-person appointment scheduled two months (!) later and now it has been more than three months (!!) that I've been waiting to receive the number. I've been calling every week and was receiving vague misleading information about the status of my case. This is the most appalling experience with bureaucracy I've ever had and I don't even know what to do about it.

Extremely rude agent called 'Steven' picked up the call, I wanted to inquire about the fax line not working for the application of a new SSN ID. He was extremely rude and gave me the wrong information. According to COVID guidelines, we can submit documents via fax and he denied this and first kept the call saying he will ask his manager for an appointment. When I confirmed this is false, I called back to check with the same guy picking up and asked me why I had called him back again and rudely tried to brush me off again. I had to push a lot to get him to verify this with his manager and he finally said that we can fax in and confirmed the number. He was extremely rude and unhelpful. I'm surprised there's staff working in COVID that doesn't know about COVID guidelines. My two cents: choose another SSN Office.

I followed all instructions and forms to be put back on Medicare Part B and was denied - SS has records of my original A and B coverage as well as my employer coverages to date. I can't go in for appointments due to covid restrictions, fax and tues/wed dropbox only for documents. They gave me additional incorrect information over the phone. SC office is making it ridiculously hard for me to get the benefits owed to me, and I get penalized with a Part D surcharge and vulnerable to part B lack of coverage the longer I go without Part B. What a joke! Do they realize that they are dealing with human lives and health?
