It has been a pleasure working with Sound Restoration.

Cannot recommend this company. They inflated prices in their quote and my insurance worked with them to lower their pricing. Once my insurance company was out of the picture they’re magically now too busy to do the work and canceled the project.

This is a mixed review, some good things, but the negatives outweigh the positives and overall, I would not recommend this company. We hired them to do a major remodel which included the kitchen. They were recommended to us by an employee of another construction/remodel company who was too busy to take on our project. So, we felt safe using them. They are a relatively new company and so no online reviews were available at the time. Initially working with the owners Chris and Eric was a great experience as we planned the project. I felt like they understood my vision. The project was estimated to take 6-8 weeks, and I was told they limit the time the kitchen is out of use. Well, our project took 24 weeks. No kitchen for 6 months! Granted we made some additions to the project, and I understand that it is complicated to organize the subcontractors, but neither of those should have made our project take 3 times longer than expected. The crew was quick and efficient with the demo, but then very little work happened for the next 2 months. We had issues with the layout of the kitchen plans not being followed. Mistakes in the placement of the cabinets that caused a 1-month delay in having the countertop template completed. Also, the kitchen island was placed off center and I had to have a conversation with the project manager to get him to move it to where it was supposed to be. TERRIBLE texturing that I brought to the project manager, who minimized my concerns, and had the painter come in and get started before fixing the texture. He told me texturing “is complicated.” I understand that there is skill involved but this is what you do for a living. At the end of the project, I was presented with some surprise costs. I believe that some of these were fabricated to recoup the extra expenses they incurred fixing the texturing issues and having to repaint several areas. An example of additional expenses was for two outlets on the kitchen island, which is required by code, so why was that not included in the original estimate? I was told that the project manager is still learning and apologized for the lack of communication. Well, basically he was spending our money without telling us. Six months after the project was completed, the kitchen sink leaked water into the garbage disposal causing it to short out. We had to have the disposal replaced. I contacted the owners for reimbursement. Initially I received a timely response with a promise to follow up in a few days. It took another month and 3 emails, a phone call, and a text message before I got a response. They offered to pay for the disposal and what they paid for installation. I was not told what that amount was, but sounded much less than what we paid to fix their error. We do not have access to contractor pricing, and the cost is what it is. Sound has continued to ignore me on this matter, and so we are moving forward with legal action to recoup our costs. Overall, our project turned out beautiful. One part of our project I want to give kudos to is our stairway. We tiled the risers on our stairway and replaced the treads with solid wood. Our stairway is complicated as it fans out at the bottom, and is open on one side. The guys worked really hard on the details and to make it look right. It turned out amazing! By the end of our project there remained some areas where the texture is not right, and there were drywall issues as well. We just wanted to be done and have our home back and not deal with them anymore, so we did not push to have these details fixed as they are minor. When we hired this company we were really rooting for their success and hoping that we could recommend them. However, we will not be endorsing this company to anyone.
