I drove here from Santa Monica after reading such great reviews on SPENGA. Also, their concept is unique as you get three different workouts (cycling, floor work with weights, and yoga). I decided it was worth the trip from Santa Monica to Woodland Hills and signed up for the 6:15 a.m. class with Divya on Thursday, September 28. The girl at the front desk, Sara, was accommodating and pleasant. Very friendly. Very professional. Unfortunately, the session didn’t go well since the instructor had technical issues beyond her control. During the session, it seemed like the instructor didn’t know what she was doing, and later, she mentioned she was nervous since it was her second class teaching. She was nice and friendly, but I expected a high level after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp. There were only three people, and two of them left in the middle of the session, leaving me alone with the instructor. I come from the fitness world and am used to working alone or in a group, but the atmosphere was weird and awkward. Because the session started late, I only got five minutes of Yoga at the end.
After the session, Sarah at the front desk immediately offered me another free session. She added more credit to my account, so I came back today, Friday, 10/13, at 8:15 for another session with Tianna, who was fantastic. The class wasn’t packed with people, which was great. Tianna was able to hold our attention and motivate us. Twenty minutes of cycling, 20 minutes of floor work with dumbbells and straps, and then 20 minutes of Yoga session. Thank you, Tianna! Thank you, Jess, at the front desk, who helped me sign up for this session today and was flexible enough to let me change to the 8:15 session instead of the 9:30 one.
if you do class, notice that you can’t use their showers. Sara informed me the first time I came into the studio that the showers were only for members. The critical thing to consider in case you need to get ready for work.
