This venue is a beautiful garden, but NOT worth working with the owner or maintenance crew. Brief Overview: AWFUL Bartender, YELLING venue owner, and PARTYING maintanence crew.
Stepping Stones required us to use their preferred bartender (Copia on the Boulevard) and HOLY COW, they were AWFUL! I will be reviewing them on their google page separately if you want to know all the details, but all you need to know is that they VERY manipulative and told the Mother of the Groom to "F* off" (yes those words exactly) when she asked for more plastic cups at the water area. We paid for the cups and brought them by the way. They were SO rude all night to us (bride and groom), guests, and vendors.
Stepping stones was lovely to work with up until the day of the event. They were super accommodating. We truly appreciate them for letting us come 3-4 times over the last 18 months to look at the venue and for allowing us to come Friday to set up some of our larger items. However, I think myself, guests, and our vendors saw a side of Judy (owner) that we were not expecting. We are friends with our caterers and we are appalled at the way she spoke to them. Judy, you are a wedding venue owner, not a wedding planner, therefore should not be dealing with anything that doesn't take place behind the scenes. This is why we hired Dona Baker-like a dream (BEST WEDDING PLANNER) so that if there were issues, she would deal with them appropriately and professionally. You should not have been yelling at our caterers to hurry up. One of my bridesmaids mothers was in line (with our flower girl and ring bearer) and she witnessed you yelling at them to go faster. When you noticed this guest staring at you in shock, you said "well, they need to hear it or people won't get their dinner by the end of the night" and you continued to yell at them more throughout the night (in front of guests), which was relayed to us through other vendors and guests. We also found out that you yelled at our DJ because he was not dismissing tables. We asked our wedding planner to dismiss tables so that our DJ could solely play music uninterrupted. We specifically asked them to serve food this way to ensure that everything was fresh. This is not how you treat anyone. We have gone into the restaurant and apologized for your behavior. Dinner was done by 6:45pm, which is a totally reasonable time. Our guests were totally fine chatting with people at their tables while they waited to be dismissed and it also gave Tyler and I a chance to go around from table to table and talk to our guests. Why would anyone want to wait in a line when they could be under the tent chatting?
Another reason why I cannot recommend your venue is because of your maintenance crew. It is highly inappropriate that they were drinking alcohol and dancing throughout the night. I don't think I need to clarify any further on this. They did a lovely job making sure the day was beautiful and all set up, but that is where their job should end.
