We bought “cellQART 12-Well Cell Culture Insert PET, 0.4um, Clear”. We have used a lot of cell culture inserts. This product is quite different from those we used before. Below is our experience in culturing primary human keratinocytes with this product.
- Our favorite part is the transparency of the membrane which enables us to continuously observe the cells without staining the cells. The pores are evenly distributed and do not hinder observation.
- In general, keratinocytes attach well to the membrane. Additional coating on the membrane may or may not be needed for cell attachment depending on the media.
- The insert has a wide top. Our pipet tips can reach the bottom edge, good for removing residual media. Be careful though, when we first used it we touched the membrane too hard with the pipet tip and a part of the membrane detached from the circumferential wall.
- This insert is deeper/longer than most other inserts. When it sits in the Nunc 12 well-plate, the lid of the plate cannot close.
Generally speaking, we like this product.

Customer service is amazing here, we had a slight mix up in one of our orders last year( my fault, not theirs) and they bent over backwards to correct the issue. We're very happy with the high quality products. You can tell when you speak to them that they like their jobs, they always seem like they're happy at their job.
