After returning to Kitsap mall a couple of times over the Holidays, I had noticed a couple of new eating places; located at the main entrance of the mall, in the food court area. I love Chinese food, ok, I love food in general, none-the-less one of the new places was a Chinese food place called Stir fry 88. Although I was very excited to see it, I had some doubts. Mall food, in most cases, isn't exceptional, rather a place for a quick bite during a day of shopping, or working at the mall; it was much easier grabbing a quick bite there versus leaving the mall, driving around, trying to figure out what you were hungry for. Also, I have always felt mall food was a little more expensive.
What can I tell you about Stir fry 88? I can tell you I had a combo #1. The choice was one entree with fried rice or noodles (I can't verify white rice being a choice) hard choice for me, but I ended up choosing fried rice, and my entree was Orange Chicken, although next time it may be Bourbon chicken! For the price of $6.69, I was pretty surprised with the quantity I received. I took it out to my car and proceeded to sample my lunch with my fingers crossed. The Orange Chicken, well, there was plenty of that, more than I could eat. One thing that sat Stir Fry 88's Orange Chicken apart from all of the other Orange chickens I have tried in my life was the lack of being able to raise my blood sugar, yes it had a sweetness to it, but it wasn't so overly sweet that I felt I had to forgo sugar for the next week to compensate what I had just eaten and that too me was two thumbs up. The fried rice was pretty darn good as well, and as you can tell in the pictures, a fairly generous portion was given. The rice had good flavor and had a decent texture, meaning not too dry but not like sticky rice. I, personally wish it would have had a little more green onion included and I could not tell if there was eggs included in it or not, I found none. I was there around 11:30 so my food was fresh and hot! The girl that put my meal together and rang me out was polite enough but small chit chat wasn't going to happen, that's ok she had a nice smile and said thank you!
So the bottom line is, Would I consider what I ate from Stir Fry 88 as exceptional Chinese food? probably not, but I would categorize it as pleasant food and I look forward in trying some of their other food as well; Stir Fry 88 is a little out of my way, just simply because I rarely grace the mall with my presences, but I will return eventually!
