Studio Sumi

This place is awesome, run by a wonderful human!

I took a hand building class with Bri at studio sumi and it was so much fun! Bri is very knowledgeable and made the experience easy, especially for someone like me who has limited experience working with clay. She explained every step clearly, demonstrated how to use each tool, and gave useful tips when anyone got stuck. I highly recommend trying out a workshop or even checking the space out!

Studio Sumi is an absolute treasure. The space is bright and welcoming, with all the tools and supplies you could need to play in clay. Studio Sumi offers single classes that are perfect for date nights or time with friends, and Bri is an experienced artist and educator who is an inspiration and joy to work with. I really appreciate the way that Bri gives great instructions and is right there if you need help, but really encourages students to play, explore and find their own way with their project. I had a wonderful experience at the Studio, and plan to return regularly for classes and open studio time on Sundays. Other studios can be prohibitively expensive and require a significant level of commitment, but here, I feel liberated to pay as I go and choose from numerous offerings at a price point that feels accessible. I am so glad to have access to such a wonderfully inspiring self-care activity in the neighborhood!
