DO NOT STAY HERE. Multiple safety code violations. I booked this motel for the convenience of location before the Tunnel Light marathon. After staying here I wish I had booked the airbnb condo - which if you’re reading this, please for your own sake, just spend the extra money for an airbnb or somewhere 20 min down the road and DO NOT STAY HERE. The first room they put me in had the smoke detector ripped out of the ceiling and when I turned on the window AC unit, it ran for 10 minutes before it shorted the outlet and then the outlets didn’t work. I packed up and told the front desk I wasn’t comfortable sleeping in this room. They looked at me like I was crazy for asking for BARE MINIMUM SAFETY regulations. It is FEDERAL LAW that a working smoke detector be in every single hotel room. 45 minutes later they tried to put me into a room that hadn’t been cleaned. 3rd try they finally got me into a functional room, although I heard a water drip in the wall every time I ran the faucet. RUDE STAFF and completely incompetent. They still use an old Rolodex file folder for their check in/out room organization. The cherry on top for their list of serious needed updates.
Without a doubt the worst hospitality experience I can remember. Motel is in crappy condition. Not clean. Rundown. We reserved three rooms for the Tunnel Vision marathon last weekend. Six people. Three rooms. Here's the lowlights: No air conditioning in one room. Air conditioning didn't work in the other two rooms (didn't work means when we ran the AC unit in the rooms the circuit breaker blew and all the electricity in the room went out. We called down to the front desk, they flipped the breaker the first time, but upon then told us "don't use the AC because it will cause the electricity to go out") It was warm out (low 80's) and our rooms were at least that temperature. One of us could open the window, the others had their windows nailed/screwed closed (safety issue?). We expressed concern about not having AC and they front desk just made excuses. Resolving a check in/check out issue took 45 min as the front desk person she would summon the manager who was in the restaurant then went about checking other people in/out. When the manager did finally come out, she was completely uncooperative. There were no highlights. This place sucks and we wished we would have stayed somewhere else...actually it sucked so bad that two members of our party did bail and go to stay somewhere else even though the front desk manager wouldn't refund our money for the second night.
