Beautiful moderate hike. The roads though were HORRENDOUS! I have a 4Runner and I was going super slow because of how many potholes/sharp big rocks there were. The trail wasn’t super steep, very gradual incline. Lots of tree roots though so you have to watch your step. The lake was stunning, super clear blue water it was very surreal. There were a lot of flies buzzing but no mosquitoes. I’d love to come back but the roads getting there are preventing that for me 😓

We had an absolutely fantastic hiking experience at this trail! The weather was perfect, clear skies all the way with Mt. Rainier showing off in the background. As we reached the lake, we were in for a pleasant surprise. The water was surprisingly warm, and we couldn't resist taking a refreshing swim. Being able to comfortably swim in the lake was such a delightful bonus, and it added a whole new level of enjoyment to the hike.

The only drawback was the challenging road leading to the trailhead. But despite the bumpy drive, the experience of this hike was beyond compare. Going counter-clockwise around the lake provided us with the best views and made the hike even more memorable.

Overall, it's one of my favorite hikes despite the rough road. The effort was more than worth it, and I'll definitely be back again.

First of all, BEWARE of the road to the trail head!! Everything we read before this hike said it's all vehicle capable with some bumpy areas. Our Toyota Corolla got so many scratches and could have been extremely damaged if we attempted to make it up. We made it near the top and hit a patch physically the car couldn't pass, so it added about a mile for us to walk before we hit the trail head. There are no restrooms/facilities. Trail has good signage/easy to follow. Lots of switchbacks and moderately difficult hike. The trail is not maintained and it is very easy to twist ankle/trip on all of the roots, so watch your step!! Tons of little black frogs on the trail, we were trying to watch our step to avoid them for the first half of hike. The views are breathtaking and we had an enjoyable day aside from being so carsick from the bumpy road and twisty trip up. Be prepared for a lot of dogs on the trail if you are not a dog person. Also be sure to take a truck or 4WD vehicle.
