My mom was a resident at a Sun Village Senior Care for a little over a year under the excellent and capable care of Lorraine, the resident RN and co-owner with her husband, Dorel. My mom was previously at another adult family home in Kirkland that was poorly run and Lorraine was a breath of fresh air.
The home itself is immaculately kept up. Everything is also neat and tidy and the rooms are large and bright. The caregivers are thoughtful and care for the patients as if they were their own family member. One of the caregivers told me that my relationship with my mom reminded me of her mom back home so she cares for her as if it was her own mom. In addition, the caregivers always greet us with a big smile on their faces and make us feel welcome there.
As for Lorraine, I can’t thank her enough or say enough good things about her. Lorraine is very professional in her demeanor and we relied heavily on her for advice. She is also very compassionate and displays a lot of care for her patients. She is also super intelligent and always on top of things. My mom suffered from severe health issues (gastroparesis, diabetes, 3 strokes, hypertension, tube feedings, to name just a few) and Lorraine took a very holistic approach to her care. Toward the end, when my mom’s skin started becoming dry and flaky Lorraine tried every single kind of lotion, creams, and even natural remedies in attempts to alleviate her symptoms to make her feel more comfortable. My mom was bedridden almost the entire time she was a resident under Lorraine’s care, and I was surprised how well my mom’s skin looked. Lorraine made sure to turn her every couple of hours and managed to prevent her from ever having any sores. She always made sure that my mom felt comfortable, even to the bittersweet end, when she was on hospice.
Thank you to everyone at Sun Village Senior Care for supporting our family through the last year. We couldn’t have done it without you.
