Justin was very informative was unlike any other sales person I have ever dealt with. Justin truly was advocating for me Helping me in deciding if I needed solar And if I did how much of a system I needed. Justin gave me all information I needed in a clear English by the time he finished his sales pitch and answering all my questions Over and over. Justin always tried to make sure I understood his explanation of how the process worked. Everything Justin promised was delivered from A to Z I’m still calling Justin ( texting) about some questions moving forward Justin reaches out to me within hours. I’ve told Justin he may share my system in modesto And I will speak with people on the fence. Give Justin the time and he will give help you get the latest system on the market and best price to fit your need and you will be happy.
Three things made me go with SunPower
- It’s a publicly traded company not a local small company that be out of business after few years.
- $1000 rebate additional to federal rebate.
- The entire process and equipment is by SUNPOWER so anything goes wrong you call SunPower so you will not hear comment like well this part was from a third party and they are out of business. One stop shop.

I really want to install SunPower panels on my roof, and still intend to, but Hooked On Solar has been incredibly unprofessional with me, and I'll be looking for another installer. I scheduled an appointment and was home at the specified time and they never showed up and never called to let me know they weren't coming or to reschedule.
Then I called back to see what happened and to try to reschedule and they promised that they would have the person that missed the meeting call me back immediately (that day) and prioritize getting out to our house. I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised when the call never came from him or the office. Time to try to find another installer.

We had an18 panel Solar system installed by Hooked on Solar in Sept 2014. The installation went reasonably well and we were very happy with the system for the first 5 years. In Sept of this year, 1 of the 18 panels stopped producing electricity. Up until this point, I would have rated this company as a 4 but the lack of service and communication we encountered with this repair has moved my experience to a 1. We contacted Hooked on Solar who had warrantied the system for the first 10 years to arrange for repair. After a 2 week wait, they came on site and determined that the optimizer was bad and that a new one was needed. The repairman left telling us that we would be contacted to set up an appointment once the part arrived. We did not hear anything from them for 2 weeks so we contacted them and was told that the part was never ordered. An RMA from Sun Power, was requested and the wait began again. 2weeks later still no communication from Hooked on Solar so we called again for an update. 3 days later we were told that part had still not arrived. 1 week later we called again and spoke to head of Customer Service repair explaining our plight. He determined that the part had still not arrived but found a spare in the warehouse that he arranged to have installed. An appointment was made but had to be rescheduled for 1 week later when tech ran out of time on our appointment day. Head of Customer Service was called again, this time he gave his personal assurance that the problem would be fixed with this appointment and that there would not be any more delays. New optimizer was installed on 9/19 when we were not home and conductivity to system was not tested. When we returned from vacation, the monitoring system indicated that "repaired panel" was still not transmitting power. Contacted Customer Service supervisor again, repairmen sent out on 10/4 to check the connection to the monitoring system. After replacing the router, the technician pronounced the problem fixed since 17/17 panel were communicating. The problem was that there are 18 panels which meant that the one that was broken was still not working! When we pointed this out to the technician, he decided that the "new" optimizer was faulty and the cycle started all over again. We were told that the replacement optimizer would take 10 days to ship. 2 weeks later, we called again only to find out that for a 2nd time the order had not been placed and we have been told at it would be another 5-10 business days before it arrives. I tried to talk to someone higher up the chain but no one who would answer the phone seemed to be able to give me their name or contact information. A warranty is only as good as the company behind it. I would look for a more reliable choice.
