Trains, trains, trains! Operated by Jim, a fellow who loves the hobby and is happy to help. Not much in the way of Bachmann, but plenty of Walther and Athern, and even ScaleTrains Rivet Counter, and some Kadee. Quite a respectable selection of rolling stock, and even sells models made/finished by a local club. Mostly HO and a sizable N selection. Larger sizes too. Several good books on trains. Shopping there always puts a smile on my face...even if my wallet is considerably lighter at the end. Good store, and good people.
There's a sale he does which occurs with the area train show which is a definite must. Some really good deals.

What impresses me the most about this place is the competitive prices. Being involved in various hobbies through the years (RC planes and cars, woodworking, dirt bikes, mountain and road bicycles, backpacking and outdoors, etc) I have found that many local businesses set their prices at or above the MSRP, which is usually 30% or more above what you'd pay on the internet. Not so at Sunset Junction. His prices are quite competitive.
In model railroading, having a local source of expertise is indispensable. You can never really tell how accurately a locomotive or rolling stock matches the prototype by looking at a picture on your computer. And, if you need advice on how to set up your layout, you'll never get the same quality of help from an internet seller as you get from Sunset Junction. So it's a HUGE bonus when your local guy's price reasonable.
