Agree completely. We reserved SUNSPOTS Sunbaks Resort at Banks Lake, WA. I got confirmed reservation number at the time of booking paid in full. On the day of arrival called the resort they didn't have my reservation. I then called SUNSPOTS after about an hour of waiting for an answer, SUNSPOTS told me that the resort made a mistake and didn't make my reservation. They offered full refund. OK great, but where I am going to stay for the weekend we had fishing plans with guides at the Banks lake, "EVERYTHING ELSE IS BOOKED, SORRY" replied SUNSPOTS agent. What a disgraceful bunch of slugs. STAY AWAY FROM SUNSPOTS!!!!
We booked a vacation through AirBNB that is run/owned by this company (or Leavenworth Getaways). Initial communication with the owner (rental company) showed that they did not have really great knowledge of the property. Nonfunctioning hot tub (despite charging hot tub cleaning fee), no supply of snow shovels, no knowledge of advertised snow plow schedule, etc. During our stay, Leavenworth experienced heavy snowfall and the Leavenworth Mayor even declared a State of Emergency due to this fact. When trying to communicate to the “owners” about the issues, we were just met with “this is the mountains” or “can’t control mother nature”. Our biggest issue was our cars completely being snowed in, which resulted in us being unable to leave the property at all. This property stated that they provided plowing of the driveway but we did not experience this. When we reached out about our concerns, we just received very unaccountable responses and in no way even attempted to offer any solutions or help. When time came for our check-out, we were told that we absolutely had to leave the property as housekeeping needed to get in. When we stated that we could not move our cars due to no snow plow and no provided snow shovel, they told us we could just wait in our cars until we were somehow able to get out. Temperatures were below freezing and the cars were buried in 4ft of snow, which if we started would have filled the car with exhaust fumes. Our party included two seniors, 6 adults, 2 children under 4 years old, and one 2-month old. It was even stated that the housekeepers would wade through the snow to reach the house even if they couldn’t themselves drive up to the property. This resulted in us having to contact the local Sheriff’s office to inform them that we were not going to do as they demanded. Within an hour of our deadline, the next guests canceled their reservations (State of Emergency and all) and we were offered to extend our stay. We accepted the offer, but there was still no resolution to our inability to leave the property, even just to restock on provisions. We had to eventually trudge through waist level snow to a plowed street, track down a neighbor and arrange for the driveway to be plowed on our own dime. Another concerned neighbor actually provided us with food. We were shown a lot of care and concern by the neighbors, just not the people that were supposed to be our “hosts”.
Never did I ever think that an accommodation would essentially give you the choice of having your elderly parents and 2 month old freeze to death or die of carbon monoxide poisoning. Shameful.
