This is one of the finest sushi restaurants I have been to. The sushi is fresh and expertly prepared.
We had the omakase course (sitting at the sushi bar with the chef preparing their choice of sushi to serve us). You may specify any allergies.
They only have 3 seating times for the omakase course: 5:00, 7:00 and 9:00. You can make reservations for the 7:00 and the 9:00, but the 5:00 is only walk-in. There are only 13(?) seats at the counter, so best to arrive early if you want to get in on the 5:00 seating.
The founding chef, Shiro, the master chef prepares the omakase sushi on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays - and he serves only the far right side of the counter (for a select few people). If you want Shiro as your sushi chef, you will likely need to be the first in line, or make sure that you specify on your reservation to have Shiro as your sushi chef - maybe…
The amazing thing about the omakase course is that it is almost all primarily nigiri sushi - most other omakase services only have a portion of the meal as nigiri sushi, mixed with other prepared, non-sushi, dishes. But here at Kashiba, their omakase is fully nigiri sushi.
The service was professional, friendly, and on par with some of the finest restaurants.
I’ll definitely come back as often as I can!
