I don't usually leave a review if I have anything negative to say, but I feel like this is important-- for your own health please do not shop here.
The first few times I shopped here it was fine, accessible, took my school student cash, friendly staff, all that. Then one time I found mold on some cheese I was buying. This was the beginning of the end.
I brought the item to the clerk's attention and he said it was the company that sold the cheese to them-- it wasn't a super well known brand so I was like sure that seems reasonable. Then the clerk hit on me and asked if I was single, which immediately made me feel very weird. Still, it was close and he was pretty friendly so I decided he was just a little too friendly that one time.
However tonight I went with my boyfriend and we found not one, not two, but three packages of cookies that were so moldy we couldn't tell if the blue was from it or the frosting. It was grizzly. We brought them up front and the same clerk snapped at us and said it was the manufacturer not them, which was obviously a lie because this was a more well known brand and, given the store's record and his tone, wasn’t likely an issue on their end. My boyfriend said he just wanted them to know so no one would yell at him and he looked at me, said "thanks sweetheart" and then winked at me. I don't know if the wink was intentional, but I felt very weird and officially wanted to leave. We didn't want to leave without paying for SOMETHING so we (foolishly) bought a mini pie. We had checked the outside of the box and it seemed safe, we even grabbed like three back from the front! We were walking back to his dorm so we decided to unwrap and eat it on the way. The entire bottom of the tin was green with mold. We broke the pie in half and the filling was moldy too. It wasn't worth the 3 dollars we paid to ask for a refund so we threw the pie away and vowed never to return.
The more we talked about it and the more we thought about it the more I felt the need to warn others. My boyfriend is SEVERELY allergic to mold, eating even a bite of that pie could have really hurt him-- luckily we checked before biting into it.
For your own health, do not shop here until they can hold themselves accountable for it and make a change. If they tell you it's the manufacturer do not believe them, just leave. Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice? Shame on thee. Do not shop here.
EDIT: I was discussing this review with my roommate and she wanted me to add that when she went in he asked if she was Hispanic and then went off talking about stereotypes about dating Hispanic women. Yikes.
Extremely rude clerk. I wanted to pay with card for something and the price came out to something that I didn't recognize. I said the price isn't correct..
"that's the credit card price, if you don't like it you can go somewhere else"
I think he was irritated because I was getting the price down. The energy drinks were on sale for 2 for 6 but he wanted to charge me $9.43 for them. I had to direct him to the sale sign. It's more like you didn't know the inventory in your own store. Or you did know and you didn't want to honor it.
He said I was rude for not answering him for credit or card but I had noise cancelling headphones. His rudeness was intentional.. I addressed him on his attitude but his stubbornness and pride took over. Terrible terrible clerk I think he owns the store with his brother so I had a better interaction with.. Just terrible service never coming back again. Sir you gotta understand you work in customer service, this dismissive attitude isn't for for it.
Edit : wow just absolutely unbelievable. I lost an earbud so I had to retrace my steps around the neighborhood and I wanted to check the cashier area to see if I dropped it nearby. The man saw me again and kicked me out for leaving this review. Initially he said he didn't care but he was fuming.
"leave now or ill call the cops!"
You have the right to refuse service to anyone I understand that but I was the person that was overcharged and I wasnt causing a disturbance at all. He proceeded to tell on the phone that I was cursing, yelling, just all flat lies. He said he was going to file a restraining order against me. Go pull up the footage on your store.... The only thing you're going to see is him being the aggressor. We exchanged words outside and he said,
"We've been here for 35 years, your review is not going to make a difference." - I assume he's not the only person working in the store and to jeproadize all his coworker's livelihood like this is abhorrent.
As we were a couple feet apart he asked me if I wanted to get closer and fight. A instigation of violence. I told him I am a martial arts practicioner and combat sport athlete and that wouldn't end well for him.
"then I'll sue you!"
He wants to act like the victim when I was the person that was overcharged. Just laughable. It's so crazy someone that's middle aged and works in customer service doesn't know how to deescalate. Not only that, he's wasting our hard earned tax dollars to call cops for issues that are clearly from his own wrongdoing. Cops should be out there saving lives.... Not coming to console when you're being an immature brat. He's so delusional he said he's gonna file a restraining order against me.... For what? Go pull up your camera footage and see who's the person that's more likely to deserve a restraining order. Just a terrible experience.
