Tahquitz Pines Retreat

The grounds are beautiful, the cabins were roomy and the beds were comfortable. It was off putting when we arrived and found a barely alive mouse stuck on a glue pad that we had to dispose of. It would be nice if the cabin stocked a toaster, wine glasses and corkscrew (which we had to go into town to buy). Having an umbrella on the deck would also be nice as we kept getting pelted by acorns falling. They were coming down so hard that one of us got hit in the nose and bruised!

Gorgeous, well thought out property. We stayed in the three bedroom vintage cabin and had the best of both worlds. A private cabin in the woods experience with a very nice restaurant, amenities, and housekeeping on hand if so inclined. We enjoyed our stay so much we already booked our reservation for next year.

We had a great birthday weekend getaway! Pro’s: House was updated and had plenty of towels and amenities. There was a nice large private patio with tables and chairs. Three rooms (2 bunk, 1 queen, 1 king) were plenty big for our group of 6 (3 adults, 3 teens). The pool was refreshing and pool towels were provided. Food delivery to the pool was quick and delicious. My kids had a blast in the rec room playing pool and other games. It was in the high 80’s low 90’s while we were there and we were SOO grateful for the air conditioning-which is not an easy thing to find in mountain community lodging! The not-so-pro’s: While the pool was refreshing and nice, the addition of a jacuzzi would have provided more of the resort feeling. The house was clean and spacious, but is in desperate need of a second bathroom or even half bath. There were 6 of us staying plus an additional 2 family members who came to visit. An en-suite in the primary would have been more useful than a massive walk-in closet. It’s loud! A few area rugs and art to absorb some of the echo would benefit the space. A few of the doors stuck pretty bad opening and closing them even while trying to be careful was impossible. All in all we would definitely stay here again. Just know you are a bit far from the town center but I think the trade off is worth it!
