Cool store, but i was just shocked to find out that they fired their main manager. Is their Coporate insane???? Can they read this? He was super knowledgeable and helpful and was totally the heart of the store. He taught wonderful classes, was always offering to help customers with projects, and improve the store, even with his own time and resources after store hours. The number of customers asking after him will be enormous. He gave the store a kind of personable, small business charm, and provided the kind of tailored service that makes you want to come back and find new fun projects.
I am not just a customer, I have become a friend as well, and that is also the point - I am sure there are many other such repeat customers.
The other manager is alright i guess, knowledgeable, but terse. He taught an adequate but lackluster class. Not super friendly with customers, bare minimum when i asked him questions. I don't know what they are thinking, none of the other employees have that combination of experience and thoughtful dedication.
Most stores don't have that level of pizzazz and passion that Tandy had, because such employees have become a rarity everywhere. It was noticeable.
Otherwise, store has a decent selection of products, and the staff is generally helpful, just not on that level. I guess I'll see how things develop, but it's sad, because it lost something that made it exceptional.
