I went to Taps for two reasons. They were rated high and listed on SuperSprings as a installer. I brought a Sumo Spring suspension kit in for them to install.
Right off the bat when I saw the installer reading the directions I was a little bit concerned. BUT when I saw him grinding the upper bracket I called sumo springs to double check if that was needed. NO. I went to the tech Kyle and told him nothing needs to be grinded and that there are left and right specific. But he blew me off so I went to Garrett and told him the same thing. He spoke privately to the tech and then told me the upper brackets were interchangeable. NOT true. Kyle grinded for 30-40 minutes to make sure the bracket would not hit the muffler.
The job took 1 hour 21 minutes to finish. Kyle handed me the keys and told me he did me a “Big favor” as it would have been rubbing up against the muffler. I went to pay as Garrett and he charge me for 2 hours. $230. I let it slide as I was happy to have this basically DIY job done as I didn’t have a lift or floor jack.
I drove it around and checked under the van to see that the grinded bracket was installed on the opposite side of the muffler, not as Kyle said he did. He flat out lies to my face as he handed me my keys!!!!
This job should have taken them 30-40 minutes if they knew what they were doing, they did not! And then I was lied to about their mistake and certainly over charged any way you cut it.
When I returned to tell them what had happened Garrett was gone but a woman behind the counter returned me my money and stated that this is not how they have stayed in business for 20 years. Well on this day I made a big mistake bringing in my 160k custom van to Taps because they were not what has kept them in business for 20 years. They were total hacks.
I did get my money back but Taps voided the limited lifetime warranty as they structurally compromised the upper bracket by unnecessary grinding a upper bracket by mistake.
