Highly recommend this place! I brought my car in for a free inspection due to squeaky brakes. I had gotten a quote ahead of time assuming I would need to replace the brake pads, and compared to a few other shops in the area and this was by far the best price. After the inspection Luke explained there was actually nothing wrong with my brakes and why it was making that sound. He said there was a temporary fix but didn’t recommend it since the noise would just come back anyways.
It was refreshing to feel like I was getting an honest opinion and wasn’t being pushed for unnecessary repairs. When my brakes do need replacing I will absolutely be coming back!!
They do so much more than brakes! Seriously, they do it all. On to my story:
For various reasons I've had my rav4 in to several different mechanics in the last 6 months. Never for brakes, but due to persistent squealing and grinding sounds I always have them check the brakes. Every time they say the brakes are great, plenty of pad left, perfect functionality. Still the noises linger. I'm that person you hear from a couple blocks away... I had considered selling. It's given me a complex.
Anyhow, I saw the Brake Shop in passing, and thought I may as well try. Looked like Luke was flying solo this morning, so I waited in the tidy reception area. Lots of stuff to busy yourself with, plenty of seating, very clean and spacious bathroom, and though you can tell it's a shop, it doesn't have that overwhelming smell of mechanical grease. All around pleasant vibes. There were some subtle things that say they support our troops, which I love. Both the subtlety and the support.
Luke came in on a call, which I'm fine with. He's running a business! I expected him to go finish the call and get to me whenever he could because I'm a walk in. Instead he very deliberately made eye contact, let me know I was welcome, and that he'd be with me shortly. He wasn't kidding. 5 minutes later, he had already listened to my life story and talked me down off the edge (the sound is so bad guys). He told me he could have a look in half an hour, and would I like to wait here or leave a number for him to contact him.
I opted to wait; It really is a nice, quiet little area. I didn't look for coffee, but I bet they have it. I didn't watch the clock (messing around on my phone), but suddenly I heard my car. He had already pulled it in and located that dreadful note and was deliberately playing the sound like it was an instrument. I both wanted to die and was overjoyed he'd tracked it down. Apparently to the millimeter, he triggered it over and over so many times. Finally it was quiet, he came in and said it is a fault in the brake pad. He can't guarantee a fix without changing the pad, but he's willing to try grinding the problem area and see if it improves.
You guys, he charged me $20. He had it done and me out the door in another 30 minutes. The drive home was... Silent. $20 No grinding, screeching, squealing or other noises. Blessed quiet.
I'll be coming back for all my future car care. He's a one stop shop!
Thank you Luke!
