My partner and I decided to adopt a dog through this group - we couldn't risk a shelter dog we wanted a dog that would go well with our other pets and our lifestyle. We found our dog, which we love dont get me wrong, but his advertisement lied completely. We were told he's trained on leash, never had an accident in the house, claimed he was the most well behaved dogs they'd ever had, they also said he'd go perfect with our apartment life, saying he's very laid back. All of this was incorrect- which for the last 3-4 months we've had him, we thought maybe it was him adjusting to the lifestyle. He's had multiple accidents in the house, four this month, we take him out very often for long periods of time, he actively holds it in. He takes food from our plates and hands, eats the other animals foods, pulls extremely hard on on the leash and is very very reactive to other dogs and people on the street. Obviously we thought we were doing something wrong, so we did a lot of research (this isnt either of our first dogs, ive owned pitties and collies as worker and guardian dogs, and my partner has owned various house dogs) but everything we tried never seemed to work. We love our dog, despite his difficulties, but we would not have dropped 600$ on him if we were told how he actually was, we could've just gone through with a shelter dog (including the 400$ deposit).
Edit: If you actually read what we said- we explained why we ruled out shelter dogs and why we didn't reach out about his behaviour issues (we wanted to give it time, like we were suggested in the texts when we explained he was having issues using the bathroom in the house, we were told he was probably adjusting, so we wanted to give him a few months considering it was very clear he had anxiety issues. He had his behaviour issues the second he was here, it wasnt learned from us - we did very well, and like I said did research to try and alleviate his clear anxiety issues (which we werent made aware of). Not everybody has hundreds of dollars to constantly obedience train, which we didnt expect we would need, considering we spent 600$ on a dog we hoped wouldnt need obedience training, AGAIN why we didnt go to a shelter. The deposit we were referring to was the one we made to our apartment. Were not saying they lied, (except maybe abt the anxiety), but i feel the foster didnt spend actual time with this dog. He has severe separation anxiety, and anxiety in general, he screams at the front door when we leave, he's constantly shaking. We assumed he was previously abused, which we werent told about, considering he's always been like this. No, we do not want to rehome him, we love him very much. And this rescue was incredibly professional and quick, we just wanted to express openly that we feel it is important that a dog like this one, (reactive, extremely anxious) are rehomed properly into care that can provide and cater to his exact needs. I included the fact I owned border collies because we raised and TRAINED border collies as working dogs, we do not need to hire a trainer.
