Sutter Creek grew out of the great Gold Rush of 1849. Thousands of men of every nationality arrived seeking fortunes through turmoil, sweat and luck. Others turned to more traditional trades. They set up tents and small cabins to serve as bakeries, blacksmiths, boarding houses, mercantile, restaurants, salons and more. These individuals and the miners that they served were going to become the founders of Sutter Creek. This is a perfect photo opportunity of the Sutter Creek that runs under the bridge.
