We stayed in Griffin’s Loft during our one night in this hotel. I don’t know if an on-line review can adequately describe this “hotel”. It is more like an inhabitable work of art. The space has a museum feel, the overall theme being somewhere between Hogwarts and Sherlock Holmes’s flat at 221B Baker Street, full of exotic souvenirs. Just navigating through the building to get to the Griffin’s Loft was an adventure, in a good way. Stout wooden beams in the ceiling are juxtaposed with Victorian paintings and furniture. Despite the exquisite flourishes (everywhere) the two-story loft space does not feel gimmicky at all. Rather, the whole effect is tasteful and beautiful. Every detail is carefully thought out, down to the coffee and washcloths. I could easily see this hotel being a destination in itself. It is smack in the middle of downtown Hood River, and convenient by walking to restaurants and coffee shops. Very unique, and worth the splurge.

We stayed in Griffin's Loft for one night. Our only regret is that we didn't stay more nights, especially since we had to attend a wedding during our stay. Griffin's Loft is an experience to savor. The owners have created a rich, layered ambience that transports you to a different era while still providing any necessary modern touches. We felt like we were living in a beautiful cocoon removed from the problems of the world. Thistledown's location also provides easy access to Hood River shops and restaurants. We cannot wait to return and are already imagining the possibilities. It is rare to find a hotel that embodies this level of imagination, creativity, attention to detail, and thoughtfulness in providing a sumptuous experience for its guests.

This is a one of a kind hotel! It is truly boutique and just beautiful. You can tell that everything is thought out and intentional - from the decor to the snacks to the in-room espresso machine and all the fixings to make any coffee drink you’d like. The bed and linens were amazingly comfortable. While I was a little surprised there was no person at the front desk upon arrival, communication was 10/10 with the hotel staff. They sent our access code via text prior to our arrival. Upon check out, we wanted to walk around downtown Hood River after the designated check out time and they let us keep the parking pass while we explored town - and this was all communicated via text! Genius - no waiting in lines! We truly felt the hotel staff was personal (again despite not being at the front desk!). I will 100% be recommending this place to others and plan to be back for a longer stay next time!
