Store hasn't been restocked after Christmas. Clearance wasnt really clearance. Prices were high
Went to the home goods section for a couple cups.
There was a singled out cup that didn't have a sticker on it, but there were similar sized, flashier cups for $3.99 apiece in the same section.
I brought the cup to the register with the intention of explaining this to the cashier.
Line was long (as usual).
Cashier price matched the cup without a sticker to the other, flashier one I was buying, and asked me if I took the singled out cup out of a set. I told her the truth and said "no".
She said "ok, I trust you" and asked me if I wanted them wrapped in paper.
I didn't need that.
But I thought then would be a good time to explain my findings from earlier. so I said, "but I..." she cut me off and said, "I know, but this is a cup that comes in a set."
I get it, there's a long line and everyone wants to keep it moving. business never really seems to stop here.
So I understand staff needs to be firm about stuff like that. But I was pretty peeved about the cashier's inability to listen to anything I was about to say after I told her "no". It was like she was set on making it look like I was doing something disingenuous, and the fact that she cut me off the moment I was going to explain made it worse.
(Left cup in the pic is the one without a sticker, right cup was priced at $4.99)
