Wonderful cafe Just a great place for a quiet breakfast looking out at the 1st tee. Nice people, good service, good food.
I never even got on the course. I arrived at the course, hoping to play a quick nine as I was passing through town. I first went into the golf shop, where I told the woman tending the restaurant and pro shop that I wanted to play nine holes, and would do so if I could get right on. She replied I could, and took my money. I informed her I was going to quickly throw on shorts, which I did, and I was on the first tee in less than five minutes. As I approached the tee, I saw a foresome just hitting their chips onto the ninth green. I therefore planned to play a quick drive, so I could be quickly ahead of them, even if they were not taking a quick break at the turn. As I walked onto the tee, however, the woman called to me and told me I'd have to wait, not only for the group on the ninth, but also for a group on the eighth that was also making the turn. I informed her that I was certain I could quickly get well ahead of the group on the ninth, but she told me in no uncertain terms that she was certain the foresome could play much faster than I could (a single) and that I would have to wait. I told her in my experience a single can play much faster than a foresome, but she insisted I was wrong, and further began to educate me on "golf etiquette". I told her I was no stranger to golf etiquette, but wasn't going to argue further with her. I began walking away, but did ask that my greens fees be refunded. She then informed me that the course did not give refunds, even though I had yet to step on the course or pull a club from my bag. At first I thought she was kidding, but she informed me there would be no refund. As I did not have the time to wait (as I'd informed her at the start) I walked off without my money and with a very poor impression on the golf course, and Dayton WA in general. For a town that thrives on tourism, I thought it was a very poor way to treat a visitor.
The course looks nice, and perhaps the lady at the counter was having a very bad day, but I cannot recommend it.
