Prefacing this review with the note that I reserved a room needing the minimum requirement of a bed to sleep on for two night; not looking for fancy.
I started checkin at Howard Johnson (nextdoor) and was sent to the other building (Travelodge) to get my keys. I don’t know what kind of checkin process they’ve established, but it was not organized at all. Someone in front of me had a confirmed reservation email and was turned away because there were no rooms available. Another group came back to point out their room wasn’t even cleaned. My expectations were pretty low.
When I finally got my key, I grabbed my things and my party went to get settled. Our key didn’t work. Normally this is a quick-ish fix, but at this point it has been an hour and a half since I arrived and we couldn’t get into the room. Not even the facilities guy could get the door to open. We left.
I don’t know what is to blame: it looks like the entire site is minimally kept, and it looks like they’re going to do renovations. Even with how gross the appearance was (from the outside, can’t vouch personally for any of the rooms), the service was abysmal, and I can’t justify paying for such a terrible experience.
Maybe if you need a place to stay without a huge event your experience may differ, but don’t expect anything that looks remotely hospitable about this place.
