Twende is a great organization providing solar to folks who don't have electricity in developing countries and installing on a women's homeless shelter. I volunteered with them on a few projects and am very impressed with the dedication of those that started it and run it.

Twende Solar has gone to remote regions of the world to provide electricity. They have opened up opportunities for people to improve their lives. With the installation of solar power they have also made some people safer. Installing solar generators to bring water from alligator infest rivers has safed lives of women and children whose responsibilities included bringing buckets of water from those rivers for irrigation. The energy produced has allowed people to substitute safe lights replacing kerosene lanterns. Twende Solar is providing valuable services to people without electricity to improve their environment.
