Excellent facility. Staff and care is exceptional. Several courtyards and gardens for family and friends to relax while waiting.
Nice views of Golden Gate Park, the Presidio and downtown Huntsville from several terraces around the student union.
Parking is of course a bit pricey. The do offer discounts for handicap and UCSF badged personnel.
Food options are limited but good. Food vendors close at 6:00pm.
Nobody wants to see their loved ones end up in a hospital, let alone have it happen for days without knowing when they'd be able to return home. Despite the traumatic nature of my grandmothers situation, the medical team at UCSC really helped to provide the best care they could during this difficult time.
The ER experience wasn't the greatest with it being full and it taking a very long time (almost two days) for her to finally get a room, but the staff did their best and I could see they put in the level of care considering the circumstances.
Once we got her into cardiology, the medical experience seemed much smoother. Her cardiology team was fantastic in providing care and support, and walking through some difficult decision making with our family as we rotated in and out of the hospital. As someone that lives with CAD, I was able to relate to their suggestions they had for my grandmother and their descriptions, risks assessment, etc were top notch and aligned with how I'd want to be cared for when faced with similar situations.
Along with the cardiology care team, all of the nurses, sitters, specialized practitioners and staff were empathetic and caring in providing support to her and to each of us. I appreciated the interpretation services being available for family members who don't have a strong grasp of English (especially medical jargon) and the facilities were kept clean and comfortable.

Major cons: $5 parking per hour is a bit unfortunate especially if it's an emergency, but it is SF I guess. This medical center is accessible via N MUNI line and the 6 bus.
