This is an instagrammable spot but it has art by local artists instead of tacky flower walls. However, there are plenty of murals everywhere in San Francisco and I prefer free art in 24th Mission over this but that is my own subjective taste in art. If you are at Pier 39, you can take a look but I don't think it's worth a visit on its own. The admission is free but you are encouraged to make a donation of $5 or more if you want to support the artists.

Yesterday, while waking along Fisherman’s Wharf, maybe 50 yards from Ghirardelli Square, I stumbled upon a hidden gem next to a bicycle rental place, Umbrella Alley. This place is a gold-mine of beautiful San Franciscan themed murals, vibrant colors, and endless opportunities to take pictures. Amazingly, umbrella alley is FREE, but a $5.00 donation is suggested to help support their work. Another amazing thing is that no one on their staff is pushy or pressures folks for donations. It’s an act of good faith that I hope folks will do. They also offer jeep and Segway tours. This is definitely a place worth visiting and is good for groups, dates, or a night on the town. Definitely stop by if you’re ever in the area.

$5 entry fee, I gave them $20 so I could make a donation. The art is very beautiful and vibrant. Its a quiet little alley/parking garage across from the Hyde St cable car turnaround that has murals and sculptures to see. There is also umbrellas and balloons strung across the alley overhead. Fun little spot to get some good photos.
