As a former science writer, I have tremendous respect and faith in this group's work. We've been members for years. But the communication is all one way, asking members to sign petitions and donate; emailing has not yielded replies. I think they'd be smart to consider getting supporters more directly and deeply involved than the two methods now available, such as recruiting and booking informed, approved speakers in local venues. But it's impossible to reach a real person to discuss the possibility of doing volunteer work (they have an office in Oakland, only a few miles away); I've been trying occasionally for a couple of years. If I break through to a real person, I'll upgrade my rating.
